Curb extensions (also called nubs, bulbouts, knuckles, or neckdowns) extend the line of the curb into the traveled way reducing the width of the street. Curb extensions typically occur at intersections, but can be used at midblock locations to shadow the width of a parking lane, bus stop, or loading zone.
