Curb returns are the curved connection of curbs in the corners formed by the intersection of two streets. Their purposes are to guide vehicles in turning corners and to separate vehicular traffic from pedestrian areas at intersection corners. The radius of the curve varies, with longer radii used to facilitate the turning of large trucks and buses. Larger radius corners increase the length of pedestrian crosswalks.
