If this is a TOD, why is there so little transit?
Convener: Larry Gould (sp?)

Goals for Project: Better understand what expectations new urbanists should have for transit, and how transit administrators can come up with a successful system

Problems/Issues:

We should be talking about pedestrian oriented design, and later, if densities and other needs create a successful transit operation, we are we have designed to be transit-worthy.

We need to be careful that we do not design transit out of the community design
Today transit is seen as a negative good, and this will need to turn around in time
Transit is all about critical mass. Until and unless we can get the density we need to stay at van size and type of operations
Can we get transit administrators to work with planners and developers to get TOD or transit worthy development into corridors to make transit a successful service?
CNU should develop guidance on what types of transit work in each transect area.
Smart Code works on two levels; neighborhood and regional. Each component has a different transit interface
Dedicated lanes need to be included in the guide
Accommodations at bus stops need to be detailed
How can people interact with their transit agency
Glatting Jackson developed a guide: Transit Design Guidelines. This document needs to be resurrected.
