On Saturday, there was a presentation followed by break-out sessions at about 12 tables with the public to talk about the neighborhoods.

Jesse Loya of the Waveland Bldg. Department & Bruce Newton of Digital Engineering & Imaging Inc. gave a brief overview of progress to date “on the ground” in Waveland.

Ann Daigle gave a recap of all plans for rebuilding along the Gulf. She shared innovative ideas other cities have come up with, places where the Smart Code has already been adopted, and other information she believes would be of interest to Waveland residents and their unique conditions.

Robert Orr also gave a succinct overview of how New Urbanism creates good neighborhoods and why this approach is good for Waveland, and then presented the ideas created so far in the study.

Sandy Sorlien offered an overview of the SmartCode and the requirements for rebuilding within the different flood areas, as well as ideas for meeting those requirements that other towns have created.
